MFFR Canyon

Hi there. Thinking about heading to MFFR this weekend in the canyon stretch below Nelson Creek. Anyone have any reports on water levels/temps/bug activity? Hopefully still some water to fish! Thanks.

A beautiful spot indeed! Haven't went into the canyon yet this season but I would say your safe by looking at the feeder creeks above that section. Be safe and good luck.

My wife and I went in there about 2 weeks ago, had pretty good action on caddis and pmd dries. Water temps were still reasonably cool, Nelson itself was very cold still. My guess is that it would still be very good right now, but very hard to say for how much longer before the main river gets too warm.

So we ended-up going North to the Pit (see Troutsource posting) thinking that the MFFR would be on the fringe of unfishable with low/warm water... Sorry nothing to report.
