I finally was able to get to Yellow Creek this weekend to fish and camp. Yellow Creek is in a beautiful area and the campground is peaceful and literally on the bank. However is this a fishery that is destined to become one of legends? "You should have been there 45 years ago!" was what I was told by a seasoned angler. I caught a lot more brookies than browns or bows. The the fish population declines 15 minutes upstream and downstream from the campground, I didn't see a single fish beyond that. It is almost a cruel joke that DFG designates the meadow section of Yellow Creek as a C&R wild trophy trout and take 2 fish 10'' max limit.

Don't get me wrong the spring creek fly fishing style is super fun and the Humbug valley is one of the most beautiful places I've visited. But how long does Yellow Creek have before the fish in it completely disappear? What's happening to Yellow Creek?

My personal best the two days.

Ever since the cows left it has gone down hill. A certain worm the fish feed off evolved from the cows.
