Hey guys - New to the forums, had a good opener so here goes.
Headed up to the Silver Fork on Sunday and was surprised by the amount of snow on the ground. Found a nice pocket of trout actively feeding pretty much straight away and from there just had to figure out if they were hungry or not. Didn't like the dry flies, think I tried a Sierra Bright Dot, Elk Hair Caddis, and a Leech before moving on to nymphs. Tried a copper john with no weight and that was a no go either. When I tied on a stonefly nymph with a little split shot 18" up the tippet, it was fish on. That group of fish was hungry and they could not resist. Caught 4 on stoneflies, 2 on pheasant tails. Nice fat healthy rainbows. I did get one strike on a dry but they weren't really rising, every once in a while one would break the surface but that's about it.

Nice fish, that is my most favorite piece of water around here. It is not about the size of the fish but the serenity I receive from the place they live.

Nice work! I haven't pulled fish that size from the river in a long time.
