4-14-15
We received a trace of snow last night....will be gone by noon.
The fish can get a little tight jawed after a "flash melt" but the color is still good..
It will warm again the rest of the week, fishing should be very good.
The water dropped back to high 40s, so wear some fleece on the bottom.
A wind breaker is a good call.
Baetis are still number one, both adults and nymph.
March Browns are showing a little more all the time. Mostly nymphs...
Caddis, both small glossisoma sz18, to midsized tan sz 14.
No surface action yet, but pupa and emerger is working.
Ours are smallish early season...I like a midge pattern in drk olive green.....sz18-20
Passes for caddis pupa and Midge.....who cares what fish think it is....
Midges have declined in number, but are on the menu year-round.
Finding more food forms in my seine every day.
From early season worms to crays....
The Carpenter Ants are coming soon, unless more snow comes.
Streamers are also worth a try......
The river near town, although a little low, is beautiful and productive.
Just use stealth...no false casting over them, and mucking about.
Below the Boca release it's game-on for a heavier stick, and careful wading.
Most crossings still are a go.
Some angling pressure weekends....
Mid-morning to mid-afternoon is best.
Some very nice fish are being caught, by experienced sticks.
Have fun out there. Treat'em nice.
Fish now.............
And, an announcement......
I will be proudly guiding for Three rivers ranch/Outfitters in Ashton ID. this Summer!
The list of blue ribbon rivers is long.....
Please let them know, if you want to fish with me up there. I'd love it!
I have some days still open on the Truckee before I pull up stakes.....let me know...
I hate to leave, the T will always be my Home waters, but after 25 years fishing here, I hear other waters calling.
Thanks to Bill Kiene for letting me post reports for the T, and thanks to all forum members and lurkers for all the views and feedback..
I found it a challenge to give good info all the time. Hope some helped...
The Truckee is a tough teacher, but I've learned much from her.
You can too....
Mentioned to a couple fishy guys that they could keep the feed going...I'll let you know later.
I'll Report back from the field, and shout in the Fall too.
Maybe check my blog for more.......
Thanks again.
