Calling out to Jay! Haven't seen you on the board lately, but your probably getting settled into your west coast home and chasing the tail end of steelhead season. Hope you had a safe move and travels and can't wait to see some pics of your local birds or your latest wood creations! Take care and hope to hear from you soon. Mark

Hi mark
Sorry I missed this. You are correct about my status... Excluding steelhead :( I was surprised to find a very good job immediately here in portland and am all consumed in the work force. I hope to settle into a routine soon and explore some local waters. Definitely chomping at the bit.
I did just get back from a vacation to st lucia and snapped some beautiful scenery pics. I'll try to get some up here one of these days.

Thanks for checkin in buddy :) :)

Beautiful. Great shot of the purple-throated carib (at least I think it's a purple-thrated carib).

The owls in the juniper out back have fledged. Last evening went out and tried to get some photos of the little fuzzy guys. Two of them, in two different trees away from their nest. One of the adults was in another tree holding a spotted ground squirrel TV dinner and making this strange purring hoot noise I've never heard them make. I think he/she was calling to the youngster to stay away from the ugly long legged ground birds walking around under their trees. It's been really fascinating watching these owls grow.

Thanks Mark. I suspect many people who check in here really love seeing something like a bird nest with babies and watching them grow and move on. Nature provides the best entertainment anywhere in my opinion.

Today's owl pictures. When I took Kaiser the wonder dog for his walk this morning, one adult and the two young ones were sitting in a dead juniper at the top of our street. Being a dead juniper, it there fewer branches and leaves in the way. When we got back only the two young ones were there but I still managed a couple decent shots. The light was better than the previous pictures which were taken at dusk.1079710798107991080010801
