SAN FRANCISCO—California farmers face being cut off from federal water imports for the second straight year, in an unprecedented move likely to worsen crop losses in the nation’s biggest agricultural state.

Citing declining reservoir levels amid a four-year drought, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced Friday its initial allocation of supplies from the federal Central Valley Project would again be set at zero, as it was in 2014. The agency said the allocation amount could be revised upward if the state gets more precipitation.

Yeah,.... It's a sad situation we find ourselves in. Of course, there's always groundwater. In a newscast a few days ago on KCRA (chan. 3 Sacto) it was reported that a development plan was submitted to Kings County proposing to construct an entire city, including residential/retail, etc. (self contained), along I-5. One of the questions asked in a telephone interview with the developer was, where was the water coming from for this development?? The answer was that the plan calls for a combo of storm water capture, recycling and minimal, standard sources. And so it goes....

Regardless of that, unless we get a bunch of rain/snow during the rest of the spring we'll be seeing water rationing here.
