Stanilaus??

I've got a cousin down from WA. I'll be in Oakdale area all day Friday, anything happening on the Stanislaus? Worth trying?? Thanks

I assume you are talking about the area below Goodwin dam? Been up there a couple of times this year. Flows are good. There are some fish there not a lot but some. There is also a steady stream of fishermen there too. Some claim a spot and sit/stand there for hours. If there is some one in the run or pool it is best to move on as they will be there a while. With all the pressure the fish are very picky. All the guys I have talked to have caught 0-1 fish per day. I have caught a couple. Have to be patient and stealthy. Stay out of the gravel / watch out for signs of redds. I look at it as a nice way to get some practice casting in and enjoy the outdoors rather than looking at it as a great fishing destination. Some dry fly action at times but I have found that nymphing or swinging small wets is a better bet.
