Seen some of these floating on the surface at Pyramid Lake this weekend, they look to be about a size 12 i think, does anyone know what they might be?

Gene,
That's a caddis. With the record warm temps this year the insect hatches have been very early. Today in Reno it will be a record 71º! This is the warmest winter on record since 1961. Chironomids, mayflies, caddis, and even damsels nymphs are getting active. At our clinic last weekend a damsel nymph got caught up in my net while netting a trout. We have been seeing fish surfacing throughout the day especially on the overcast days. Today (Wednesday) it is overcast and warm. Thanks for the post, Doug O.
