Small flies and lighter tippet

Some of the local valley rivers are fishing like spring. Have been using light tippet and small flies lately… Big BWO hatch on the feather around noon to 2. One of the fish ate a size 16 S and M. Talked to another fly fisher who had hooked five and landed one.

Great report! Thanks for sharing. Some of us are heartlocked to tug hookups and cant move from the American River while an opportunity for another exists. So have at it. Congrats on the successful sneaky tactics.

Yes the tug is the drug!! Last year I bought a switch and spey rod and had a lot of fun. Was waiting for the caddis to pop. In the meantime I am working on a BWO soft hackle that will hold up to the hit. Last year I figured out that the Gama Octopus hook was the best for swinging.
