January is a cold, foggy month in Sacramento but there are still places to fly fish.
Steelhead in Nor Cal, OR and WA weather dependent.
Pyramid Lake is fishable fall, winter and early spring (Nov-May).
Low elevations large reservoirs have trout up shallow all winter - Folsom, Berryessa, Oroville.....etc.
Resident trout in large low elevation Nor Cal rivers - Lower Sac plus Steelhead
Stripers in rivers and in the Delta - cold water makes it slower but still possible.
Tropical salt water flats - winter is not prime time but can be good - Christmas Island can be very good year round.
LMB in Mexico - Anglers Inn on El Salto Lake
New Zealand, Argentina & Chile is in summer with world class trout fishing.
