Jefferson Steelhead

I made two trips to Jefferson to pursue the fall run steelhead. Both good trips. Sometimes a fast bite and sometimes a slow bite but if you keep fishing they will come. Cool camping conditions with lots of wood burned and good food cooked. We floated five days, waded one and got a few evening wades in after the float was done. Mostly wild fish, some hatchery fish but all great to catch. Plenty of bait fishing boats on the water. They have no reservations about low holing you. It is almost funny to watch it happen. The best thing is to do a little wading and let them move on. I may have found a new favorite beer - Rogue All American Ale. Pricey but it has unprecedented fishing karma. A few pictures are below.

John: A very nice report with som excellent pictures. You wonder if some of these guides got their license out of a Cracker Jack Box. Last week saw a guide boat actually displace a wading fisherman. Sad indeed.
