Penn Rep?

to billkiene

"I viewed an old post of yours regarding the " lumpy drag", excessive weight, and the disappointed customers that own a Penn Fly Reel 1.5 2.5 and 4.

Can you give me the names and info of 3 disappointed Penn International fly reel owners?

I want to fully refund their money and get the product back.

Thank you........ Edward Matthews"

Bill,

This is an interesting post. Is Ed Matthews the current (2014) Penn Rep.? I own two of the mentioned reels, a 1.5 and a 2.5. And for a long time I was looking for a #4 as well.

As for complaints my only dissatisfaction would be with the weight of the reels. Yes, they are heavy. But on the flip side of that they seem bulletproof as to how they are made.

After purchasing my #2.5 salmon were my main target and the reel worked flawlessly. I even landed several tarpon and dorado on the 2.5 with a 9 weight but was undergunned when bigger fish would be on the scene.

I don't use these reels much any more because of the weight mainly and would be glad to return them if Penn is wanting to do this.

Thanks, Tony

I remember those Penn International fly reels.

They where heavy for their size but had the same disc drag as the big Penn International conventional big game reels.

Even though the drag could be 'lumpy' at lighter settings.

I don't think many fly shops carried them for two reasons: their excessive weight and the fact that Penn is a sporting goods store/discount store brand company.
