I've been going easy on them...and not reporting so you guys might as well....
Thank you all for honoring the PM curfew.
For weeks there were fewer guys out pestering them when they were most vulnerable.
Unless it heats up a lot again.....I'll let you know.
But I have to say it's feeling fishy out there. Nights down to near frost..35-38 deg.
Flows are low at Tahoe....not even reading on flow report.
Below Donner is creek flow looks better.
Flow at farad is 107cfs, and 56-58 deg at dawn.
I've been fishing with my 3wt ESN to good effect. (Except when windy....!)
Czech nymphing is good for flows this size, but other styles are working too.
Mid day seems to be better, and the evening is picking up as well.
Baetis are about...fish dries and nymphs.
Same with slightly larger BWOs 18-20.
Saw a PMD too.
A few Caddis fluttering about. About time for October Caddis to appear, nymphs are starting to work.
Some crane flies a flyin'.
A Hopper dropper is a good approach in the afternoon since water is so small.
Seeing more risers every day, fish are definitely looking up....
Be a little sneaky...we've been fishing them hard since May, so they are aware what the game is. Set quickly.....
Between both the clouds, and the smoke, air temp is cool, and flows are staying cool instead of ranging widely day to night.
Not much smoke today, but high winds on the crest are a little scary.
Not much water, but the tough season (Doledrums) seems to be passing into Fall.
Think rain.......

The river is very clear and pretty fishy.
Below 60 deg, and steady.....
Wading isn't a problem...but slippery is....
Best advice, don't wade because it spooks them..
Waters small and they are on high alert.
We've been using a variety of techniques to hook-up.
Dries, bobber, Czech sticking, and recently with a streamer.
Our cloudy day special....BWOs. Look for noses.
High winds blew a storm of pine needles, and a few leaves flew too.
The leaves are mostly in the middle of color change and didn't fall.
Still time to enjoy Autumn colors.....
The fish are more active, and so are the bugs.....
A few late season stones...
A few big Caddis.....and some little ones....
A steady dribble Mahogany Duns..
Some Baetis very dark...
Crays are everywhere.....Maybe bring a trap...... Release a fish, keep a cray.......seriously, it would be a community service......
Hoppers...they'll be around till a hard freeze, try mid-day.
Midges..............
You can almost feel the landscape relaxing after a long Summer....
The swallows are gone, most every thing is acting like winter isn't too far off.
Squirrel wars put the middle east to shame....I'm glad they can only launch cones....
It's getting very quiet on the water these days...
Not to many folks out...
Bring a coat, it's getting cool in the morning.
Days are bright right now, mid morning seems best.
Get a good drift.....
After that, set fast, and prepare for fish tricks, they are at their best right now.....
