View Full Version : Long weekend trout fishing in Nor Cal

Have 3 day weekend to fish, weekend after next.

Typically I'd head to Redding area, Manzanita, Upper Sac etc. Also thinking about Davis as only been there once and like to get to know it more.

Where would you go, any suggestions?

I would go to the Eastern Sierra if you have 3 days.

A few of us here have made trips to the Pit River recently, I recommend it.

Pit for sure, waters flowing and the fish are biting. 3 Days would be a blast to really work that area. Bring a floatie and try floating below the power houses.

I'd love to try Pit but have bad knee and it's not up to the wading there.
Mickey, for eastern sierras are you thinking Owens, Hot etc?

Sounds like the Eastern Sierra's would be a good bet! Especially with the cooler evenings settling in.

Cool use of a drone for some of those shots. Yeah, it makes me want to drop everything and head east.

I've been living in SF for 9 years but only fished eastern sierras once. The film and reading I've been doing has really wet my appetite to head there.

This weekend I'm fisging solo as my fishing mates can't get away so going to try somewhere a little closer to home that I'm more familiar with and planning trip over there in early November.

Will post a report.
