From years of talking with folks who live near and fish the Lower Feather River I believe that Aug/Sept/Oct is prime time.
Later afternoon till dark with medium size top water flies is good.
Fish in the shade on the west side.
Look for dead fallen trees or structure.
I like the smallest Pole Dancer with a light colored bottom.
Short heavy leaders work best. Simple two piece leader that is 6 feet to ox........
I think the entire river from Gridley down to the mouth has good numbers of SMB.
Low flows are best.....
Gridley = 1,570 cfs
Boyd's Pump = 2,365 cfs
You need a small 8 -14 foot boat with an outboard or a jet boat.
**If they raise the flow, don't go.....sometime they do it for salmon. The water gets off color and cold so the top water bite dies.
