October is the best month for swinging flies for fall steelhead.

The water is not too hot and not too cold.

You can still camp in October with nicer weather.

Sept 15 to Nov 15 is my window for fall steelheading.

Lower Trinity River = October

Middle Klamath River = October

Upper Rogue River = October

This is all floating line fishing for the most part.

You will be more successful on the middle Klamath River because they have lots of small, some medium and a few larger fish.

Orleans to Happy Camp area has tons of great long riffles.

Learn how to swing flies for steelhead on the Lower American River right now in September.

Jeff Putnam, Andy Guibord and Doug Duncan can take you out on the river and teach you some classic techniques and how to read the water .
