This is a great way to jump start your fall stillwater fishing, with lots of good info. and Rob's great cooking it just doesn't get any better....but.....it does get better because this spring there were some big trout being caught and with all that food in Davis Lake now those big trout just got bigger for the fall......wow.

I can't wait to inhale Rob's authentic southern pulled pork sandwich! Soon Gene it will be game on, I hope we get a chance to fish together, that would be awesome!

If you want to learn Davis, Jon is your man. He has helped me so much to become as good as I am on Davis. Going to his class will open your eyes to some serious fishing. I am hoping to break my 25" personal best this fall!

Thanks Scott, I'm nothing special, just the consummate fly angler always trying to solve the next puzzle. That what's so special about fly fishing, It's a never ending learning experience to changing conditions. No mater who it is, or where they fish, spending x amount days on a river, creek, or lake, results in some very astonishing findings. I'm just happy to be able to teach and share the knowledge of such, and even more happier to see others succeed. The staircase of progression is a wonderful thing to experience. - J.

I can't wait till fall arrives and Davis cools down and the fishing turns on. I gotta believe the we are going to see plenty of +20" fish this fall after seeing the size of the spring fish. This of coarse will depend on how many of the bank/meat anglers harvested over the summer. I can only imagine the quality of Lake Davis if they dropped the 5 fish limit down to two fish. One can only hope, or we "flyfishers" could get all our clubs members and the flyfishing community to discuss its true potential with the DF&W.
My thanks to Jon for all his great reports and advice he has given me over the years, I know his clinic will be awesome due to his love of this lake and the outdoors, and because he is one heck of a good guy. People who want to learn about stillwater fishing need to go to his clinic.

Thanks for the kind words Rockman, you're welcome on my boat anytime! In regards to reg changes at the lake, that will be a tough nut to crack since the area is tourism driven. On the other hand, critical comments from all the clubs and other individuals to the DFW commission would get some attention, it would also give those who commented good standing for future formal complaints. 2 fish, 4 in possession would be awesome! How many of those big rainbows does a person really need to keep?

I would like to thank all of our guests who participated in the Lake Davis Still Water Fall Outing this past weekend. We were blessed with a monstrous callibaetis hatch/spinner fall. great weather, gourmet food, the best of company, and some lessons learned in tactics/techniques. Fishing was really good, and we had dry fly opportunities right off the bank and in open water. Check out the pictures, they speak for themselves!

Rob and I have some dates available for the fall bite if you're interested - http://renoflyfishingoutfitters.com/ http://www.baiocchistroutfitters.com/

October is calling, and the best fishing is on the horizon - J.

Looks like another great outing Jon...lots of bent rods, beautiful fish and big smiles. And as you say it's only going to get better. If you're looking for big fish and someone who really knows the lay of the land Jon's hard to beat. There's nothing quite like being anchored in the middle of a pod of big fish working the surface and trying to figure out which direction to cast because they're everywhere. Or even better stalking trout from the shore line in ankle deep water. It's a special time of the year with the Fall colors beginning to show it doesn't get much better.

Hey Jon, Great weekend. That was awesome. Great weather and guests. I appreciate all your hard work. It is really cool to have a great partner to share such a great weekend with. I am really proud of these events. Cost effective for our guests, very informative, lots of fishing time and great food. They just keep getting better. See you Friday at the lake.

Pete and Gene Thanks for the kind words. Can't wait to see you guys again. Give Woody a treat for me :)
