Ted was a Native American of the Wintu tribe in Nor Cal.

His family lived on Butterfly Avenue in Dunsmuir, CA.

He was born in 1901 and was the first person to use/develop the upstream high stick weighted wet fly fishing system.

Ted Fay made the system popular.

There have been many posts over the years about Ted Fay, Ted Towendolly and their roles in the development of short-line nymphing. Who did what and when, etc. Wintu Indian Ted Towendolly and his life on the Upper Sac was an enigma with little to nothing known about him beyond his reported development of the Black Bomber and other weighted flies beginning in the 1920s. As Joe Kimsey was heard to say at his tying bench many times "The Black Bomber was invented by an Indian fellow, Ted Towendolly in the 1920s". How and when did the stories of the two Teds intersect?

The answer to all these questions and more are revealed to subscribers of California Fly Fisher in the March/April 2015 edition.

What's the punch line? Who developed this deadly effective nymphing method on waters of the north state 60 years before anyone had heard of "Czech Nymphing". Not telling. Check your mailbox.
