This time of year it's not unusual to see a few good stripers start to show up river as they work their way down to the delta after spawning. This year has been really been different with all the water problems and the short spring season we had.

But it's good to get out and give it a try even when there aren't many reports coming in. For the last couple of weeks Jim and I have been looking for some of those big spawners that often come down this time of year. What we've been getting though is mostly lots and lots of little dinks. Not all dinks but a lot of them and a few like this one Jim's holding.

Not really the big spawners we're looking for but still a nice fish. Besides lots of dink stripers working their way downstream we also picked up several squawfish and even a couple of black bass. This little guy sure had a big guy attitude.

The other day we were on the Sac heading up toward Colusa and came by some new construction at Steelhead Marina. Yahoo! A new ramp going in. Finally. They've been talking about a new ramp at Colusa for years and it's finally happening. The folks at Steelhead Marina are expanding their parking and camping area as well and this will definitely take a lot of the load off Wards Landing. Looks to be well on it's way and with more pilings for a loading dock.

We couldn't see it from the water but were told Steelhead is even expanding parking on the other side of the levee. Sure glad to see this going in. :)

Nice striper there, and GREAT that the boat ramp is being put in!

Too bad the state park ramp cannot be maintained at Colusa.
