Hi Bill,
I swing caddis emergers in the evening all summer long on the L SAC.
9' #5 rod, floating line, ratchet reel, 9' tapered leader to 5X
Fish in the photo was one of the hottest O. mykiss (resident or steelhead) I have hooked in a long time
Trout are all the way down to Woodson Bridge.
The drift from Red Bluff to Los Molinos has become popular with the guides, especially in the fall when there is a chance for a steelhead.
If I am targeting trout I like to go Balls Ferry up. I think there are more bugs up there, and more trout
Come up this summer and I will take you out in my jet boat
This fishing goes into about mid-October
Matt

Matt says he ties a #14 Hares ear soft hackle that is lightly weighted.
Most of our Valley rivers have resident trout/steelhead and caddis.
I have been fishing this way for decades on the Lower American River......mostly Spring and fall.
