Ocean salmon is just getting started over there.

Some halibut were caught right at the mouth of Tomales Bay and some at Ten Mile Beach.

The locals over there say that after the 4th of July, on average, the seas get calmer and the ocean fishing is usually good July through October.

Later in the summer they can get Albacore too.

I would have loved to have gone out there on Sunday when there was a good minus tide and dig for geoduck clams.

They used to operate a barge that would ferry you over to "clam island". They got rid of the barge a few years ago. Don't know how to get over there now except to rent a boat and I'm sure those are booked up waaaay in advance.

I took advantage of the tide and went out to the jetty at Half Moon Bay to try my hand at poke-poleing. I haven't quite figured out that method yet. Not sure if I'm getting into the right places.

There were a few dozen people at the beach digging for clams that morning.
