Well back from another awesome trip to Tarpon cay with my brother. Fishing was tougher than last year in the fish were spookier - some really low tides that put the fish on edge but this is the first year we really found snook and we landed around a dozen - mostly Bob with his conventional bait casting with flukes - he can do amazing stuff flipping an skipping flukes deep under mangroves.

fish seemed to average a bit bigger this year though we did not get out to deep water due to winds for the big boys but that is ok as that is too much of a tug of war - really do prefer the "babies"

Here are some photos:
First day out:

Nice grouper that smacked my fly before a tarpon could get to it!!!!

Another great trip for you and your brother. You guys really put the hurt on the fish. ;) Like your brother, I've been practicing using a sidearm cast (like KD uses) for Bass in order to try to get back under the mangroves around Turneffe. Gotta be some Snapper/Snook/Tarpon back in there somewhere.

I was able to view all of the photo's in your library by selecting a photo in the link to enlarge it. That takes you to Photobucket where you can see your photo's in a slideshow if you want to. In order to make the photo's pop-up in your note, select a photo to enlarge it. a dialogue box appears to the right of the photo that gives you several options. The one you want is the bottom option (img). click on the option and it will change colors to yellow and indicate that the image was "copied". It's now in the clipboard. Paste from the clipboard to the text in your note and the photo will appear when you finish the note/post the BB. Hope I didn't confuse anyone.... ;)

Hey Rick,
Glad you are having a good time at TCL. What an amazing place! Some of the finest guides I have ever had the pleasure to be on the same boat with. Very nice to see that the guides are still rock'n my "Pitayero Crew" Simms Solarflex shirts. I can't wait to go back there. Thanks for sharing.

Rick,.... It looks like you can delete a post by selecting "Edit Post" at the bottom of your note. Then select "Go Advanced", then you'll see a dialogue box that allows you to delete a post. Click on the delete post button in the box, then click on "Delete" at the bottom of the box. Hope I read that correctly....

This is one of my favorite places to go. Every morning I have huevos rancheros for breakfast there.

I would hope that many of you here could go some day too.

We just use a #8 weight rod with a floating line most of the time. The water is clear too. The guides are very good.

It is so nice to come down for breakfast and then step out the back door into your boat.

Great trip for old guys like me because they take care of you well. They meet you at the airport and take care of you the entire trip.

Tarpon Cay Lodge is a 3 hour drive northwest from Cancun. We usually fish Isla Blanca for a couple of days while in Cancun too.

Jim Christensen and Terry Thomas at the shop have been there many times if you want to talk about it more and maybe plan a trip.

Summer months are best.

Thanks Rick.....
