I have lived here for 69 years and I now hate the mid-summers here in the valley.
The air quality sucks and the heat sucks......
I guess that is why it is so wonderful to get out of here and either go over to the cool Pacific coast or drive up over 5,000 feet to the cool Sierras. Cool, clean air is so nice when it is over 90 degrees here.
I have also always enjoyed going down the Lower American River in the evens after work to wade for Shad. It is usually cooling off in the evening and the river is cooler too.
Being retired we are probably going to RV up north to the Oregon coast this summer.
A big group from the Flyfishers of Davis fly club are RVing to Hebgen Lake in August. It is an annual trip for them. We wanted to go but have some other obligations this summer.
Try to plan some cooler getaways on the weekends this summer.
