Now Ive seen it all!

I was fishing a very shallow, swift riffle in a huge river today. I was seeing some big fins and tails appear above the surface and then go back down. Almost like tailing red fish but in a riffle. I had about an 8" Musky fly on tied with bucktail. So in the swift water it was waking in the surface film. Wham! A huge top water strike! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it.

Top water cat! around 7-8#

Wow Jay! Cats on top, swift riffle...that is impressive and interesting? Maybe they were working some bait fish. Nice Smallie and good to see your Fishin! Hope all is well.

Yeah Mark. This place is more like a different planet than a different state :) Seen some weird critters on the end of my line. But the possibility of getting something truly gnarly is very real!

Ive been trying to get out once a week. Lots of big storms and flash flooding this time of year, which puts the Kibosh on best laid plans... Like today! :(
