I am seeing "discontinued" associated with the Xi3..... Any truth to this?

True. We have all of our Xi-3's and VPX's on sale. Assume Sage has new rods coming for 2015. It has been @5 years since these rods came on the market.

Make way for the Salt series. Fished them for a week in the Keys and they are seriously impressive.

I Recently threw the 10 wt ,11 wt and 12 wt Salt.

12 wt is dialed in. It throws very well. Beefier than the one and throws as well but not quite as smooth.

the 11 Salt needs some work. IMO the one is a better 11 wt. I do fish 11 wts so a minor issue for me.

The 10 weight throws well but again not as smooth as the one. I would not recommend the 10 wt salt if you are using the 10 weight to blind cast. I use the 10 wt one on occasion to throw for Stripers here in Georgia and I think it is better suited than the Salt for a fews hours of blind casting. The Salt MAY be better than the one for shots at Permit (in 10 wt) and is probably better for Tarpon b/c it clearly has more lifting power. I do think the 10 weight Salt throws better than the 10 wt Method which, in my opinion, throws a lot like the TCX it replaced.

I am curious to see if the 9 wt Salt throws close to as well as the 9 wt method. The 7, 8 & 9 wt method's are awesome rods. I throw the 9 for stripers more than my 10 and it is a big upgrade over my 9 wt Xi3. The 8 wt. Method is hands down the best 8 wt I have ever thrown. I had an 8 wt one (which is a very good rod) and sold it after throwing the 8 wt method.

I use a little bigger wt rods for Stripers here in Ga than in the Delta b/c there is a lot of wood & rocks where I fish for Stripers.

The 10 wt Salt was noticeably smoother than my 9 wt Xi3. i do not know if I would say after a few hours of casting. I suspect the 9 wt is smoother regardless of hours casting. With the exception of the 11 wt cannot go wrong with the Salt. in 10-12.
