Hi All,
I'm a few weeks late, but finally got around to crafting a trip report. Did a 12 day road trip up through Oregon and back with my ladyfriend. In addition to some great hiking and sight seeing, we got to fish the Upper and Lower Sac, Crooked River, and the Metolious. Thanks to Bill, FlyGuy (Dave,) Michael Baker, and Salmonid for the tips they gave me when I posted prior to the trip asking for advice. I really appreciate it... Anyway, on to the pictures...

Drove out of the SF and spent a couple of nights in Dunsmuir fishing the Upper Sac. Ate dinner at the Dunsmuir Brewery Works which has both good food and great beer.

9150

From there we drove up to Crater Lake (Rim roads were still snowed in, but the road up to Rim Village was open) and then along the Upper Rogue, eventually ending up in Bend.

9151

Did a couple nice hikes in the area (including Tumalo Falls...)

...and fished the Crooked and Metolius Rivers.

9156

After that it was up to the Columbia River Gorge and a hike on Eagle Creek Trail...

...as well as checking out the fish ladders at the Bonneville Dam.

We did a bunch of hikes in the gorge to the various waterfalls, as well as a wade up the middle of Oneonta Gorge.

We spent a couple of days bumming around Portland and then headed down to Silver Falls Start Park (east of Salem) which was really impressive with multiple gorgeous waterfalls.

Finally, we headed back down to California and did a drift on the Lower Sac with Anthony Carruesco as our guide. I won the numbers game, but as you can see my girlfriend got all the pigs. Anthony was a great guide... fun, personable, and a patient/effective teacher for my girlfriend who is still working out the kinks in drifting game. All in all it was a great trip. We just bought a 13' camper so are looking forward to doing a lot more road trip adventures. Thanks again for all the tips.

Carl,
Neat photo essay. You really have that remote feature on the camera down to a science.
Best,

Looks like a good trip, not sure if you had a chance to fish in OR or not but at least you got a good pic of yourself with a big OR/WA/ID nate springer. Way cool.

Best,

What an awesome trip. And that last trout your friend caught is a PIG.

Good stuff Dinky!

A solid TR and photos, thanks for taking us along. I'm up in Oregon myself right now and the salmonflies are definitely out on the Holy Water stretch of the Rouge. I got a few, but certainly a lot of looks from some HUGE trout that came up for a peek and then went back down. Makes your heart race every time. Fun!
