Battled a Plymit yesterday, my first on the T. What a hand full!
Took a worm.......

Yet another Truckee report.....

Flows are clear (a slight hint of tan), and ranging from 56 to 58 deg.
200+ cfs in town, but pushy at 600+ in the canyon. Bring a staff.
A number of fishermen out on the water, but not too crowded yet....
Checking the flow report should be automatic before going fishing.
Fish are feisty and fast. Have your gunfighter reflexes ready.
If you look carefully, there are a few risers...
Mostly nymphing.....
PMDs are happening. Nymph, adult dry, and spent down-wing.
Gray drakes are out.......
Glossasoma Caddis....sz20 soft hackle, and pupa.
A black sedge is out too. sz 16
Golden stones, and a short-wing too. Nymphs....
Copious midges................
Ants are done. Except for crawling ones.......
Termites are a-flyin'.
Aquatic annelids....brown.
Saw my first Lil yellow sallie of the year....
Hooked a nice fish on a streamer too.

As a note....a rattler or two have been seen near Lt/Truckee confluence.....be heads up.
It's time to fish!

It's time for the DRAKES!!!!!!!!!
A strong hatch right now.
Gray drake and a few green.....
PMDs, Canis, and some Isonicia too.
Several stones, Caddis, and midges....
Grass hoppers are out.
It's game on!

Jay, pulled it off the bottom, what a battle......thought it was a biggy!

That's my buddy Adam again........he has listened and practiced.....
He's been on a tear, and needs no more coaching. (In fact, he's cut off.....)
He's proven that a banded orange line doesn't put them off. The $20.00 DT...
I should say he is a roll model for sneaky as well.
Pictured in his "cloak" of invisibility, with lucky hat...
This was a one drift fish.
It pays to find them first......
There's more in there........including this one. This has been a great year for Browns...
In fact, he said the next day he hooked one as long but twice as round, he got away....Walter class fish do not come easily...
I recommend going early, and we're starting to fish later as well.....right at dark can be amazing.
Take a nap mid-day......
Skeeters are out for a 2 hour window in the evening, so bring dope.
Wet wading is becoming popular due to warm day time temps.
Stay hydrated.

An update........
Bigger surface release out of Lake Tahoe has brought the temp up to near mid60s and will rise.........
Warmer temps seem to have thwarted the Drakes....sigh.......
Warmer temps have Crayfish some molting....give and take.....
Hopper season has begun, and so has summer.........it's time to wet wade.
Started seeing a few fish struggle to recover near town in the afternoon. Colder water below Boca.
Treat them nice.....

Things are very sweet, and who knows how long that will last.....
Flows are fine....near town, biggish in the canyon.
Under 64 deg. and green/clear.
Feistiest fish in the morning...
Not a time of year to sleep in.....
It is time for BIG bugs.
Drakes are done, but....
Golden stones BIG, MED, and tons of little ones!
Dark Caddis sz 14, smaller ones too sz 18.
Hoppers, both little yellow, and big Sierra Blues are starting to do their mating flight mid-afternoon. Wind fall....
Cane flies, Lil yeller fellers, sz 18-14.
Crays are molting..
Fry all over. Swing it.....sz2+
A few Mays when overcastish.......
Bloody Midges.
Bubbles. light weight, and/or depth.....
Fish clearly know what we are up to.
Bring your sneak.
Get after it, before it's gone.
Warm water is coming.
Lots of wild flowers blooming, and critters about.
It's prime time.

Good stuff Jim,

Fished last weekend for a couple hours after a float tube excursion
down to French lake....The Truckee was the first wet wade of the season.
Water felt great.

Had a nice hookup on caddis pupa, but one head shake and gone. Had
several fish come up for a peak on dry flies but was too slow on the draw.
Size 16 cdc caddis, size 10/12 stimmies and even had one good look on a
green drake dry.

Wish I was up there now!
