Rubicon

Hi,

I'm thinking of fishing the Rubicon this weekend around Ellicott Bridge. Any thoughts on flows, wet/dry wading, flies, etc.? I fished there two summers ago with some decent small-fish results.

Small fish are the norm for that stream but the big boys are there, somewhere. Recent reports are that the rock snot is getting real bad real early. Think late July flows. You can wet wade all day right now.

Gonna be a last minute decision between the Rube and the SF American. Will post the results.

Ended up going to the South and Middle Forks of the American last Sunday -- shorter drive an no Rubicon rock snot threat. Caught two on the South Fork, zero on the Middle Fork (though hooked a chunky ~14" rainbow who threw the hook after a 4' jump).
