I had an opportunity to fish Pyramid for the first time in the company of a group of pretty awesome folks. A few are on this board, some hang on the Drake, some say "inter-what?" Thanks to JBlack for selling me the Sage. It got broken in quite nicely.

Conditions were classic "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes." We saw warm sun, ice pellets, glassy water, 3 foot swells, gale force winds, snowy peaks, and then 5 minutes later.... Never appreciated a warm fire and a swirl of Scotch as much as I did there. The food was insane. Good thing I brought the stretchy pants.

Fishing was slow on our spot, though I heard S Nets was busy. Just wasn't in the mood to slide into a tight group, going assholes and elbows. I found some nice "walk and wade" spots that turned out to be productive, and I didn't see another soul for hours. Here's a sampling...

Looks like some good times and good food. Don't get put off by the fishing, it should pick up again nice before the season close. Its been pretty darn hard to catch any good numbers the last couple weeks. I've been going 2-3 times a week and am lucky to get 3-4 fish a day if that. Think I caught 1 fish/day a few of the last 10 days I was out there. Pretty much the same story from all the guys I've talked too no matter what beach you go to. Fish everywhere cruising the shorline, just not too hungry. Only ones catching fish are the guides, or at least that's what they say, (inside joke).

Size 8 mahalo in black with red wrap was getting the most takes. The female came on an articulated black & purple bugger.
