All fly fishermen have heard of the huge atlantic salmon that can be caught in Icelandic rivers, it's also known how expensive it is.

But did you know , that sea trouts in iceland grow over 100cm ? and the cost is only a fraction of these expensive salmon rivers.

My company , Eldhraun Angling & Hunting advenutres, rents one of the best sea trout rivers in Iceland river Eldvatn ( fire water ) , each year numerous sea trouts over 90cm are caught by anglers and every few years , over 100cm sea trouts catch the fly. All trout is catch / release only so future generations can enjoy these natural wonders that the sea trout is. The stock is natural, it's not man made like so many rivers !

River Eldvatn also has a descent stock of atlantic salmon , brown trout and arctic charrs .

Please visit our webpage for more information about river Eldvatn and other trout adventures we have to offer. We also offer fly fishing & hunting for goose and duck combo tours.

Hi David

Char is the rarest catch in our region so i only have 2 photos of char in our entire photo gallery :) The first char caught this season was caught last friday 25th of April , 68cm estimated 7 pounds http://www.eldhraun.is/photo/

Our Facebook pages have a lot of images as well , mostly of beautiful sea trouts. The english one i linked in my first post and here is a link to the Icelandic version which has a lot more images https://www.facebook.com/Eldvatn

I have to admit that i have not done much of fly photographing.

100 CM = 39 3/8 INCHES

Looks like those sea run Brown trout are 2 to 3 feet long?

Jon,
You might want to quote some prices in US dollars. 250 euros is about 350 US; right? So, for your 6 day tour
we're looking at $2500 American, plus tips? I've met some of your countrymen at the San Diego Glider Port
where we go surf fishing.
Best,
Larry S

Airfare from Sacramento to Iceland looks like it might be around $2,000 usd round trip.

This could be an exciting adventure.

Hi Larry

You're right 250€ is approx 350 USD , so that's approx 2.100 USD for a 6 day tour. That price does not include international flights, travel insurance or any food or drinks . The basic tours are self catering to keep the prices down but full board is always an option.

Kind regards
Jon Karlsson

Thanks for the reply , Jon - That's a pretty fair deal these days !

I've watched several documentaries on Iceland , and it looks to be an amazingly beautiful place . Some day , when I drag myself away from the tropical surf ....
