A report right from the source:
The week of March 29-April 4, 2014

Water - 73-77 warmer than normal. Beautiful mornings with some afternoon winds for the last couple of days; very mixed this week.

Air - Pleasant with cool mornings and evenings, highs in the low 80s. Although cooler than last week, it's still very nice!

The Environment:

Water temperatures from 73 to 77 degrees are somewhat warmer than usual. Air temperature highs were in the low-80s. Mild afternoon winds.

The Bottom Line:

About an 8 on a '1-10' scale!

Marlin – Stripers are aggressive for anglers targeting them. Multiple releases have been common; one Rancho Leonero guest released 6 striped marlin in two days.

Dorado – Bite very consistent, though not wide open. They’re right in front of the hotel … feisty scrappers, in the 10-pound range.

African Pompano – A real bonus the past few weeks. These are in the 15-pound range and pull like freight trains. Test your tackle, knots and willpower!

Pargo and More: Good to very good bottom fishing, with some quality pargo being taken right off our docks.

Fantastic post..........the Eat Cape is a wonderful fishery.

This is what the one looked like that I caught out on Turneffe Atoll off the coast of Belize.

Funny you should ask ....

Last day of the April/May trip , 2013 - Get my hung-over crew up and ready (last day of fishing , right ? I was up early and healthy ...) , get to the lighthouse ....

Park . Walk down , start casting . Fishing my 7 w/ a light shooting head , brought the 8 w/ a big fat clear I line . Make about 8 casts , go to switch from my Halfbeak fly to something smaller .

Hmmmmm . Where's my surf pack ? That's right ! Sitting on the table in our rental house . I have 2 short range rigs , and 2 Halfbeak flies . I am not happy , but continue to bang away anyhow ....

Candida is , as usual .... staring intently at the water . She sees Fin tips , THOUSANDS of Fin tips .... out around 150 feet . Turns out that there's a school of Africans that looks to be 30-50 feet wide , and 200 yards long , just out of range .... dimpling the surface . Candida lands 3 (Plugs) , Johnny lands 2 (Bucktail Jigs), I finally hook up to a strong Fish ! YAAAYY !

Fight that sucker down and get a peek . A Jack Crevalle , around 8 Lbs. . Not what I want . I horse the Jack to get it on the beach .... POP ! Broke off my fly . Wind comes up , switch to the 8 , and discover I cannot hit 80-100 feet into the headwind .

Not one of my better moments ....
