steelhead rivers are closed now, aren't they? (the flows might be OK). Yuba likely muddy from Deer Ck inflow. Elsewhere depends what the flows are like thursday. Check them here:

Or watch basketball.

Some Steelhead rivers remain open... valley rivers of course, main stem Eel, rogue, klamath, Trinity... etc. sick to death of basketball and besides, my wife and kid are travelling and I am free to take off - very rare for me. Gotta find somewhere to fish, if possible.

I read a report referencing the Trinity that said the Browns are in the upper section, it was from a gear guide and they were using minnow patterns. It basically stated that the Browns are in the upper section anxiously awaiting the release of the smolt. I know the upper section clears up relatively quick, it appears to be dropping now, doesn't look to be too much rain in the 10 day forecast either. I'm and idiot and love taking long road trips with no grabs to speak of and bagels after three days, so were it me, I'd head north somewhere for steel, good conditions or not...

The Lower Sac in Redding is stained but fishable. Flows are really low out of Keswick so there are several places to wade. Forecast is for clouds and rain Thursday and Friday.

I was on the Lower Yuba today, leading a spey outing with the Gold Country Spey Casters. The clarity at Hammond Grove was tea colored with 1 1/2 feet visibility. It is clearing and there were caddis and BWO's hatching at about 1:00. There were fish feeding occasionally on them. We were working on spey casting and not fishing. The clarity will improve daily based upon the latest forecast. Once you get 3 feet of clarity you're really good to go.
