A friend of mine is cleaning out their grandfathers estate,
I managed to make a deal on his ff gear.
I'm looking for any info on buckle on felt soles and any ideas
on cleaning up an Orvis fleece fly wallet.

Thanks, Justin

Justin,

Nice stuff. back in the 80's when I worked at Powell's a guy that came in the shop all the time had a pair like that. He strapped them on his converse tennis shoes. He had a guy in Chico make him a set - a cobbler. He hike allot but when he waded he would strap them on. I haven't seen a pair like that in years.

As for the fly patch - that is a very common item.

Cool stuff - history!!

Justin,
I have a pair of felt soles I purchased at the Hardware store in Dunsmere about 30 years ago of a similar style, although mine have nylon webbing. Before those I used to wear wigwam socks over my tennis shoes and jeans.

Thanks Guys! Also included in the mix is a never used Fenwick 326
8' 6wt. If anyone's got any info I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking of pairing
it with a Medalist of the same general year. Justin

Medalists are classic and cool however about as Heavy as an Anvil. If you're looking for a classic click and pawl reel that would match up nicely with a Fenwick and won't break the bank get a Hardy Princess knock-off such as Heddon 300s or Berkley 500s. They are much lighter and in my opinion look a lot cooler.
