The Overlake Fly Fishing Club is arranging 4 different trips to Alaska this summer. These trips are open to club members, or to people who elect to join the club. The trips are at cost, no one makes a profit, and everyone pays equally for each trip. Maximum number on a trip is six members. It is a fly fishing float trip, which will be from 7 to 12 days, depending on the river being floated. Not all trips are full yet, and we are opening them up to other fly fishers. In addition to splitting the cost of the trip, everyone will help in the set up and take down of the camp. We will float in 12 foot rafts, two to a raft. Everyone will have the opportunity to row the raft, and we will float from 45 to 95 miles, depending upon the river and trip you are going on. You may be asked to help cook the food, wash the dishes, inflate and assemble the rafts, and any other odd jobs that need to be done to make sure the trip is safe, and we leave the camp and river cleaner than we found it. Here is a list of the trips/floats we are planning. Summer 2014 Alaska
Proposed Float Trips
Alagnak – June 21 to June28
Arolik – June 29 to July7
Kwethluk – July 30 to August 10
Kanecktok – September12 to September 22
The club provides the rafts, the tents, the cooking equipment, the food, and you provide your own waders and fly fishing equipment, sleeping bag, and air mattress. If you are interested in joining the Overlake Fly Fishermen, and going on one of their trips, please contact richardflange2@gmail.com. The cost of the trip will range from $1100 to $1600. You will need to pay your airfare from home of record to the fly out city - King Salmon, Bethel, or Dillingham, and return to your home. If we can keep the costs down, the trips may come in under $1100, but they will not exceed $1600. For more information, you can call Dick at 425 481-3063.
