Most seem to be using the Nextcast lines and some are trying the new Airflo Delta II lines.

Both the Airflo Delta 2 and NextCast lines are good choices. Had a chance to cast the new Rio Short Head Spey this week and was impressed with the turn over. Their 5/6 is 40 feet and their 9/10 lengthens out to 50 feet. Lines in between, of course, gradually increase in length.

No doubt about it. Winston BII-X 14' 8/9 matched with a Ballistic vector 8/9 is the finest set up I've ever owned.

Lee Davidson is working on some prototype, extended-belly versions of the original vectors, so keep your ear to the ground. If you like the delta/delta long you will be blown away by the vector.

I use my 5119 TCX and a rage with a home-made leader (maxima 20-15-10) for dry fly work, and then add a clear int. tip for sub-surface work for fall fish.

Typically, though, I'll go through once with the dry fly rod, and then back through with the skagit/tip setup if I'm fishing solo.

That's one of the better rods Bob has designed. The Carron-65 8/9 was definitely pretty sweet, though a bit too short. The Carron-75 9/10 really brings out the potential in that rod. By far the nicest line I've used on it.

I really like a scandi short on my #4 Sage One switch rod. If I use a spey rod and want to cast light top or sub surface flies I like the Scandi line.

Meiser MKS 13678 with a GPS 8/9 is really nice. I pull the color change inside the tip a few feet and it's perfect. That rod also casts an old Windcutter 8/9/10 really nicely. Those are the two best dry line combos I've used so far. I'd like to try it with the new Delta 8/9 and see how that feels too.

I think Rio's Scandi heads are easy to cast and light touching down.

I run them on all my rods:
Sage 7136-4 One
Sage 6110-4 ZAxis
Sage 5110-4 ZAxis

Couple that with a 10' ROI leader and fluoro tippet and you're golden.

My favorite short line is a Rage, for the longer stuff I'm really starting to dig the LTS custom. I only use full floaters for top water work anymore, as I have found that my hover, and intermediates swing straighter.
