In 1984 Hugh Miller and Don Chesarek founded the San Jose Flycaster's Education Foundation, a nonprofit that raises Steelhead in the classroom, educates students on conservation, environment, and stewardship of our wetlands.

For over 25 years, Hugh and Don have been the driving force responsible for educating over 50,000 children and hundreds of teachers on conservation, stewardship of resources, the need to protect our fisheries, the life cycle of wild Steelhead and the need to protect them, entomology, fly-fishing, etc. and have recruited hundreds of volunteers to work in this program. And, thousands of parents have been exposed to this program, assisted with fry release, learned about clean streams, salmon and steelhead, etc. through their children and participation in streamside activities when the fry are released.

Besides their Conservation work and direct work with teachers, and students they also made time to raise funds for this program. Since 1998 Don and Hugh have obtained over $175,000 to fully fund this outreach program.

With the above in mind the Northern California Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers will honor Don and Hugh by inducting them into the Northern California Fly Fishing Hall of Fame for their many years of contributions to fly-fishing and education.

The annual Hall of Fame Dinner happens on Saturday February 22, 2014 at the Fremont Elks Lodge, Fremont in conjunction with The Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show. This evening event includes dinner, raffle and live auction benefitting Northern California Council International Federation of Fly Fishers.

The NCCIFFF recognizes individuals who make outstanding contributions to conservation, education, and the art and sport of Fly Fishing.

NCCIFFF is a regional council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers. The NCCIFFF is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving, restoring, and education through fly fishing.

The public is invited at $50 / person. Reservations are required. A no-host bar will open at 4:00 and a Prime Rib Buffett will begin at 6:00. Proceeds benefit the education and conservation activities of the NCCIFFF. Come and help us honor these two very deserving recipients with their induction into the "NCCIFFF Hall of Fame".
