Ohhh, yes! Plenty, and you can google up a lot of articles that deal in depth with the subject. Anytime I head for the coast I take my salt fly gear kit with me and hit the surf for perch and stripers.

Tony,.... Check out the search function on this BB for a bunch of information about fly fishing in the surf in Northern CA. Enter "surf fishing" and all of the posts will appear. You can read/pick the info you want. Look for anything with the names Mark Won, Loren Elliott, Ken Hanley. Many others named in posts, as well.
There're several websites that offer info on fly fishing the surf:
I don't have Mark Won's website at hand but it has a lot of info on it. Google Mark's name and you should be able to find it.
www.pacificextremes.com (http://www.pacificextremes.com) (Ken Hanley's website has a good video/info.)
www.flyfishthesurf.com (http://www.flyfishthesurf.com) (more middle/SoCal beaches.)
www.zenflyfishing.com (http://www.zenflyfishing.com) (Glen Yoshioka's website no longer updated but still running, it has a lot of info on it including a link that displays photos from the CA project of the entire coastline. Very helpful.)
www.fliflicker.com (http://www.fliflicker.com) (a Socal website that has a lot of very good info that would work up here, as well.)
Good luck....

I think the warmer months might be better.
