Aloha David, nice variety of fish there. I really like the golden trevally, they are tough to catch and the WSB ain't to shabby either. When Luke and I were last in baja we got like 27 different species. You never know who will show up. Glad you are having a good time, Don.

Thanks , guys !

November 24-January 4th , 4,177 miles home to home . The East Cape had bad conditions (over 1/3 of our visit there was blown out) and lots of gillnetting . Christmas there w/ our Mexican Friends was over the top ! Estero Coyote was the best fishing I have EVER had - that said , it was also the most demanding .... since the shallow , weedy water and extreme tidal range required one to really think about how to catch Fish . I had many firsts on this trip .... First Tuna off the beach (on my 6 wt.) , first Golden Trevally for me , first Snook (2 of them , actually) , discovering the great sport of Grouper Hunting in the Mangroves , First White Seabass/Corvina/Corbina/Spotted Bay Bass/bunch of other interesting Fishes .....

The road was fine , much better than we thought it would be . Lots of nice people , both Mexican and gringo . Can't wait to make it back this Summer !!!!

I think you deserve all that good fishing becuase you have really put a lot of energy into it.

Ken Hanley is very proud of you for keeping the 'Surf Zone' on the forefront.

Boss , I don't think there's any Fishing around that is as demanding and as rewarding as the Surf and Estuaries . Not only are there really cool different kinds of Fish to catch , but some can be BIG ! The only downsides are .... it's really , really rough on your gear , and learning the right way to fish in swell/waves/weeds/tides/wind can be more than a little frustrating . I am lucky that , having fished as seriously as I have for many years ... I tend to see more possibilities than a 'normal' person would . There were a few others at Campo Rene at the same time we were there , guys with many years fishing the same place . They didn't do nearly as well and Candida and I did , because they couldn't adapt to the conditions as they changed hour-to-hour . I found that , without a stable Boat (we borrowed a Canoe , not the ideal craft for fishing out of in this kind of water) .... you have few options . Pay close attention to the obvious , because we found a 30-45 minute window every day where we could work a productive spot (and recognize one !) effectively .

It doesn't hurt to be lucky , either .

David,
In your 6 weeks of fishing, you probably caught a greater variety of fish than most folk catch in a lifetime!
Now, what can you do about this drought?
Best,
Larry S
