Trying to see who made this fly, I can't remember who or where I got it from.

You may have gotten it from me while tying/working at the store a while back. i was playing with the material when it first came in.

Works great on spotted bass.

I think the material is "temple dog" but can't say for sure because my fly tying stuff is packed away for a bit. I recently gave up my fly tying room so the kids could have activity room and now need to make a spot in the garage.

Scott-
Google "Super Bugger" and you'll find a bunch of variations on this theme. The Becks put their name on it for commercial use, but the basic pattern has been around for a long time. The first time I ran into it was around 1980 in Mexico where Jan Isley was tying them up to imitate baby lobsters. He was making the whole thing from craft fur or some spiky dubbing. A marabou tail has been added and subtracted over the years. Baby lobsters look like baby crayfish and the pattern is killer on trout and bass (as you noted).

Thanks Charlie, I'll head down to the shop and see what I can find. I have one left and want to tie up some more.
