I am heading to Redding/Red Bluff this weekend with a couple buddies and was wondering about what flies are working. I always tie on a brown or black rubber legs and an additional one or two flies,(favorites; amber prince, tan caddis pupa and micros). Is the egg bite still happening?

Any recent reports will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what section you are planning on floating. The water below Anderson has been fishing better for me. Fish are still eating eggs (try different colors),rubber legs, micro mays, S&Ms and depending on the day caddis pupa. Hopefully you have a couple of days as fishing has been good one day and off the next. Hope that helps.

Amber princes and dark lords also. The best section for me the past couple of weeks has been Anderson to Balls Ferry.

Thanks guys, good info. My buddy from Oregon just cancelled and my buddy in Auburn has a sick kid but still may be able to make it. Weatherman calls for rain friday and possibly snow saturday morning. We plan on camping out. Water got a little turbid over night down towards Bend but should be fine. I don't get to go fishing very often anymore and the wife has already given me her blessings after her usual rant, so I gots to go.

Well, last week was a bust. Both friends couldn't make it and my new Simms waders weren't delivered till Friday evening. I finally made it out yesterday for a one day trip.

The weather was awesome, got up it to the sixties with a slight breeze.

It was Friday the 13th. As I was heading up river through a rapid I spun the prop so I couldn't make it to my favorite run. But that was the only bad thing to happen.

Fishing was good not great. Landed 10 to 12. All on rubber legs, amber prince and eggs

My new G3 Simms waders are awesome. I usually buy cheap waders and they leak with in a year. My only complaint is they make me look fat.

The water is very low. My usual spot are either high and dry or a foot deep.

Some fish were photogenic but I couldn't handle the bigger ones.

I usually dredge up a sucker fish or two. I thought this guy was a branch.

Fished on the 10th. All fish were a lot smaller than during the height of the egg bite. However trout beads are still the best option and you can run 2 plus any small nymph on the bottom and have pretty good luck. These fish are quick and don't hang around after hitting your fly so be quick.
