Catching one wading with a fly is always a big deal.

I went here 13 times so I have seen some crazy stuff.....

I watched Cary Marcus land a 79# Giant Trevally wading with a 10 weight fly rod!

Notice how beautiful the flats are........it's all wading and unreal.

At Christmas Island my brother Dick had 3 Trevally about 30# each come along the edge of the flats while we were bonefishing. He cast his #4 bonefish fly at them and one ate it. After a little fight and shark came up with his in it's mouth....

It is a wild place....put it on your bucket list.

At Christmas Island my brother Dick and I were wading the edge of a small island and I cast to about 6 nice larger bonefish in maybe 3 feet of water. One moved up and ate my fly. While I was fishing it a school of maybe 6 large Giant Trevally, maybe 40-60#, came in and one ate my bone!

They left out into the deeper water heading to another flat and it took out about 100 yards then broke off my 10# test.

It is a wild place......

Aloha Bill, great stories. I was on a pancake flat with Moana, I hooked a nice large 8lb bone and an 80lb GT chased it down and my poor 8wt had a big upgrade for a 200yrd run. The teeth of the GT cut through my 15lb fluro and that was that. I tried to get that bone in, and could see the shadow of that school bus chasing him down. That bone would have been in better shape if he had come into me. He was stuck between a rock and a huge mouth. It was a thrill, that place rocks, Mems.

It is hard to exaggerate that place.....

Once, on a high tide with water to our waste a school of maybe 6 huge Giant Trevally came up onto the flats with us cruising around like a crazy pack of wolves. Finally they found a big school of Milkfish in 3 feet of water. It was like a plane crash on the flats with 5 pound silver fish flying everywhere. It was just beyond wild.......
