Great morning before work.
Nice 20" hatchery half pounder on a Brindle Bug.
Had one good hookup 2 weeks ago that came unbuttoned,
the rest have all been 6" to 14" this season.

Beautiful fish. Nice going. Steelheading takes perseverance for sure and you need to value the rewards when they come.

I beieve we are finally getting some good size (16"-22") small steelhead in the Lower American River.

Andy Guibord has finally gotten into some of these this past week.

They might have followed the salmon in to eat their spawn?

If you see salmon spawning in shallow water you might use the egg pattern and nymphing techneques just below them.

If you are in the sections with no salmon spawning you can swing wet flies.

Try to get out there.......

Good job on finding something bigger, my biggest so far this fall is 13" on a swung soft hackle.

Gotta love those catches before work!
Nice way to liven up the day and make work "not so bad".

Thanks guys! Fish are the motivation, but the
journey has been the best part. I've been privileged
to have some great guys share their time, knowledge
and experience to help a "newbie" out. So thank you
Charlie, Bill, the crew at Kiene's and you guys on the
forum for your pms and posts. It's the people that make
this sport an incredible experience.

Justin, You said this better than most......fly fishing is getting out in nature, the fish and the friends you make doing it.
