Not long ago I posted some boxes with exhibition grade figured walnut. Sometimes when I buy wood its a full inch thick, requiring me to "filet" it down to 3/4" for my fly boxes. Which leaves 1/4" thick material. Perfect for pocket box lids!! I have a few of these coming up and heres the first!

Last time I had a Buckeye Burl flybox, it was sold before I could even finish the ad :) So the search began for more Buckeye! Buckeye burl can be very dificult to use because there are so many cracks, hollows and bark inclusions. Which means it takes a LOT of buckeye to get enough wood for one fly box. These boxes are cut from the densest, most stable, crackless parts of the wood. They finished beautifully! These arent just burl! Theres 3D tiger striped curl in the grain too! Super unique!
