Anyone fish the forks of the Smith River? Looking for some ideas on fishing the south fork. What fly to use and such.

Off subject but heres a question.
How do you guys like to set up for swinging Trinity river steelhead? leader sink tip, line ect.

Thanks for speaking up!

Mid-October through November is King salmon time and December through March is steelhead time on average on the Smith River.

On the Trinity River you can fish a longer leader and heavier fly now or a short 10' sink tip, short leader and weighted fly.

Jimmy,
You might want to contact guide Rich Zellman. I believe he could help you.

Rich would be a good contact like Larry said. Fished with Rich on the S. Fork of the Smith. Great guide with some fishy knowledge... one tough fishery tho. Another guide that could give you some good insight would be Jason Hartwick.
