Okay folks I just want to tip my hat to my friend John Dietz.

As many as you know John is a great fly-fisher, old fly-fishing rep, owns a shuttle service in Redding and is a true gentlemen. While he went a step further for me.

On Friday I was drifting the Lower Sacramento with two regular guest. We were doing a switch rod workshop while we drifted. It was a great day. Until ----- we lost the net. That's right I lost my expandable net. Sank right to the bottom. Now user error was involved. The button that holds it while expanded didn't pop and I was too busy trying to net a nice river rainbow. I just realized it when the front half of the net fell off and sank with the fish.

I was stumped. I carry break down oars, extra oar locks, extra boat plugs, even tools to tighten things up. Hell - I carry more things than most - but an extra net!!

Well we started to continue to drift and catch fish. It was pretty hard trying to land big fish. My grip was extra tight. I had an idea.

I called John at The Fly Shop and he wasn't there, he was out shuttling trailers. The lady that took my call said she would tell John I called. Ten minutes later John called. I told him the story and he delivered a net to me while I was on the river. Can you believe that? He meet me at a place he could get to the water and delivered a brand new replacement net!!

That is a friend!!!

Know my hat goes off to John for doing that, but my hat also goes off to the lady behind the phone and all the staff at the shop. They really take care of their guides, friends and customers. John a gem and I wanted all to know. So if your looking for help shuttling or just need some advice stop in and see John - he will steer you right.

Thanks John!!!

+1 for John and all the staff. John has helped me out several times. But the whole staff is super helpful. Was in there today picking their brains about spey rods. Thinking about taking the plunge and they have answered a lot of questions for me. People on this site have also been very helpful

I have known John for several years and he is truly a class act in every aspect. I had the opportunity to fish with John on the Trinity on one occasion and it is one of my most memorable trips.
