We know that the things going on in mother nature have a huge effect on the existing salmon population but we were talking about some ideas to make it better.

Take out more dams.....this is happening. Natural spawning is the key.....

Have "no kill/no take" on wild salmon......this means marking them like hatchery steelhead. This would be commercially too.

Then don't spawn anything in hatcheries but wild salmon......

Also there would be more wild salmon able to return to rivers to spawn naturally where possible.

Keep rehabing all the tributaries......

These points alone in my opinion would bring up the number of salmon like crazy.........

Reduce water exports to southern California (make them more self reliant via water conservation). All the habitat access and rehabilitation in the world won't amount to a hill of beans, if water drawdowns continue to the extent they have and are projected to go.

Remove 2/3 of the human population from the planet .... preferable the ones more stupid than myself (good luck with that !) -

You were thinkin' the same thing , right ?

The more a society gets uneducated the worse things go. Education is the biggest factor in my opinion.

Kind of like the saying give a person a fish and they might starve when you are not around. Teach him how to fish and he will live. This is not about catching and keeping fish or releasing fish its about the education factor.

As much as I like the whole population control idea .... I think that the 1/3 left over would do exactly the same stupid stuff we've been doing already . Humanity is really that dense ....
