Hello everyone. I have been out 2 to 3 times a week mid river and have been hooking up with some nice half pounders. I have been swinging #14 #12 green or tan bird nests along with soft hackles in the same colors. Hope this helps. Get out on the water and enjoy.
PS: trying to post pics.

I'll be out there almost every night next week after work. Thanks for the 411 on which flies to try.

We have always used olive to green caddis nymphs but I know tan is another good color for the Lower American for Half-pounders.
Jeff Putnam use to prefer Dave Whitlock's Red Squirrel nymph, which looks tan to me.
Joe Shirshac has done well with a #12 Pheasant Tail nymph.
Some times the small #12/14 size nymphs on 3x tippet work best but Andy and I try to use a larger fly like a #8/10.
Try to get out there early or late now......

I have typically used a 10' Airflo poly leader (super duper fast sinking) for half pounders. But, throwing a floating
line is more enjoyable obviously. Has anyone been having luck with just a floater?

How about nymphing with similar small flies versus swinging ?

Sorry EO only been using the poly leaders. I think I will try without and a larger #8 or #10 green tung head nymph like Bill suggested. I will update with results!
