....................SMB?

Yes, water is finally low....under 3,000 cfs.

Andy Guibord, Matt Johnson and I will be going out of Yuba City/Marysville in my jet boat for some late afternoon top water action for Smallmouth Bass.

I will be using a small Pole Dancer.

Will post some photos tomorrow.......

Enjoy bill! If you get a bug up your bonnet head a little upstream to thermo--there's quite a bit of chrome to be taken as well.

FYI--it's good to see you getting out. Warms the heart!

Well, we had a great time.....

SMB were not really on but we did manage a few smaller ones on top water.

We ran up river a few miles above Yuba City/Marysville on the Feather River.

We saw lots of stripers and tons of King salmon but did not catch any.

We spent too much time throwing small top water stuff for SMB.

We saw nice stripers swimming as we drifted.

Salmon were rolling constantly.

For all the fish we saw there was not much catching.

The river up there is mostly sand with lots of wood.

Will post a few pictures soon.

Glad you got out Bill and were able to see some fish and breathe some nice clean air.

Next time we go, we might snorkel it mid-day.......it was shallow, clear and lots of fish were in the downed dead trees.

On the feather, something to keep in mind is unless you are throwing your top water directly next to the wood, i mean pretty much touching those downed trees, you will not get bit.

Did you guys try and fish the rip raft up by where the train bridge is? That always seems to produce for me.

Here is Andy Guibord with a sweet little bass......he thought it might be a spotted bass?

It took the smallest Rainbow Trout colored Pole Dancer fly on top.

The color of the eye gives it away as a spotted bass.

Thanks Scott.....I think those little buggers are really taking over.

They are a goods hearty gamefish but are displacing the SMB.
