Went out for a morning West Delta session on Saturday with another striper junkie. Flat calm conditions. Covered lots of miles fishing shallow weedy areas and tullie islands. TONS of small fish out there with a few bigger fish mixed in. They were busting small shad all around us. We tried our best to get the bigger ones to hit but there were so many fish in the 12”-17” range that ended up hitting our offerings on top. Lots of aggressive strikes which made for a very entertaining topwater session.
One of the many fish we landed however, was a really nice one. This beast exploded on the poledancer right next to the boat. Scared the living daylights out of us. He absolutely inhaled the PD deep.

12-lb summertime striper on top:

Went on a long boatride further out west and picked up a few more smaller fish on clousers along the way.

On our second to last stop, we got another decent fish along a rock wall while drifting with the ripping outgo:

Another nice delta session shared with a fellow topwater junkie. Hopefully this is a good indication of a nice fall run.

Nice job Mar, I plan to take my kayak out this weekend and look for some stripers myself.

Good stuff Mar. Looks like great conditions for that ride out west. I was there a couple weekends ago, and never made it that far west. Way too windy and rough. :-(

Yeah, it was one of those rare windless days. I rarely make it out that far west. Had to take advantage of it and it paid off.
