Hi all,

Ran down to the American below the hatchery this PM. Left the flyrod at home and threw hardware for a change. Was slow rolling a spoon in deep water when I hooked and landed a 5lb female Pink Salmon. Beautiful healthy fish. This was definitely a Pink, complete with dark green head & back, white belly and mottled flame pattern on the sides. Unfortunately I didn't bring my phone so no pic. Pinks are running now in the Pacific North West- was this girl just lost or does the American get these fish occasionally? First I've seen.

Homing is not 100% accurate. That's one lost salmon.

Straying into the wrong rivers is a protection.

They get other salmon in almost every year.

I have seen strays in the past on the American; pinks and chums. They must just love that American smell!
